Vespera Dungeons and Nightmare

Clear the campaign keys, then raise Corruption without emptying your potion bag.

Dungeons and Nightmare

Dungeons are where a Vespera build stops being a campaign tourist. You clear a dungeon, then you come back on harder Corruption tiers until the loadout breaks. Nightmare Dungeons sit beside that ladder as a named step-up. The Steam copy also talks about weekly Great Vault bonuses. None of that works if you treat every key like a unique lockout. This page is the farming logic: when to push, when to repeat, and how dungeon XP interacts with offline settlement after 1.0.

If you have not finished getting started or set Loop-Fight on the combat and offline page, do that first. A Nightmare attempt with empty mana potions is just a loading screen tax.

Campaign dungeons versus the ladder

Story dungeons teach packs, bosses, and the loot tables Vespera shows in-game. Run each one until you understand the mechanic, then stop watching the cutscene and start repeating the fastest clear you can survive. Corruption tiers scale the same map until your gems, engravings, and subclass talents fall behind. That is the intended gear check. It is also why the tier list exists: a bleed Barbarian and a freeze Arcanist do not fail the same boss.

Nightmare is not “Corruption but purple.” It is a mode you should enter after the normal dungeon is a farm. If Nightmare still one-shots you through a battle shield or mana barrier, you need food, honing, or a mercenary, not a higher key.

Offline dungeon batches

Repeating dungeons now settles completed runs in batches while keeping completion rewards, Combat XP, Resilience XP, Element Crystal rolls, quest objectives, daily and weekly objectives, and clear statistics. That sentence is from the 0.15.2 notes and it is the reason overnight dungeon loops became viable again. You still need:

  • Auto-combat on a rotation that kills the boss.
  • Auto mana and auto food covering the hours away.
  • Bag space for crystal and engraving drops.
  • A dungeon you already clear, not one you “almost” clear.

If settlement is still calculating when you log in, wait for the Offline Rewards button. Do not start a Tower climb in the same second and assume the dungeon loop will keep going; later patches tried to stop activity hijack, but you should still pick one combat activity per window.

What you are farming

  • Combat XP to reach Awakening breakpoints. Tower notes mention catch-up toward Combat Level 154 for Awakening I on early Tower floors; dungeons are the parallel path.
  • Resilience XP from repeating dangerous content.
  • Element crystals for the six element trees.
  • Skill Engravings that now apply offline to damage, crit, cooldown, lifesteal, and bleed.
  • Gear with sockets so the gems page has something to fill.
  • Quest and weekly ticks that also feed the Great Vault.

Loot tables are visible. If a boss does not list the engraving you want, farm the enemy that does. Do not run a slow Nightmare “for luck.”

Build checks that actually matter

Match the dungeon to the class page:

  • Barbarian wants packs that live long enough for bleeds and executes. Burst bosses can feel awkward until the shield is timed.
  • Arcanist wants mana potions and freeze or burn uptime. Empty mana turns Nightmare into a melee simulator.
  • Warden wants room to drop traps. Tight corridors waste the kit; Farwatch Lens versus Moonleaf Brand is a later DPS choice, not a dungeon unlock.
  • Nightblade wants poison stacks and crit. Single-target bosses are the comfort zone; huge packs need the dodge discipline to be automatic.

Bring the mercenary that covers the hole. A missing interrupt or extra damage pet is cheaper than a full talent rewrite. See mercenaries.

Corruption, keys, and pride

Raise Corruption when:

  • You clear without eating the whole potion stack.
  • Deaths in the offline report are rare.
  • The next tier’s loot table shows a crystal or engraving you still need.

Stay on the current tier when:

  • You are converting hides into Everhide for the forge.
  • A world boss is due and you need War Chest stock. See factions.
  • Tower Reclamation would pay more XP for the same hour. See Tower and Spire.

There is no prize for a dead key. The Great Vault cares that you finished objectives, not that you died with style.

After the farm

Socket crystals, salvage extra Divine pieces, and dump leftover gold into Academy Mastery rather than into a random Spire entry. Check Patch 1.0 if dungeon settlement still feels stuck; launch QoL targeted those reports. Then either push the campaign toward Vesper Gate or park the character on a profitable key and go live your life. That is the idle RPG working as advertised.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers players search after the Vespera 1.0 launch.

When should I enter Nightmare dungeons?

After the normal dungeon is a comfortable farm with potions left over. Nightmare is a step-up, not the first key of the night.

Do dungeon repeats still give XP?

Yes. Batched offline settlement keeps Combat XP, Resilience XP, crystals, and clear stats. You will not get first-clear bonuses twice.

Should I run dungeons or Tower overnight?

Dungeons if you need crystals and engravings. Tower if you need floor ladder stats and Soulbound drops. Pick one combat activity per offline window.
