Vespera Review (1.0)
A paid idle RPG with real class kits, visible loot, and a faction timer on top.
Vespera 1.0 launched on Steam on 4 September 2026 for a one-time price, no store-page microtransactions, and a stack of systems that look like someone fused Melvor’s idle bones with a Diablo-ish class sheet. After Early Access (21 July 2026) the review mix was Mostly Positive overall with mixed recent takes. This page is a buyer’s guide, not a hype sheet. If you want routes, leave for getting started. Who this game is for
Buy Vespera if you want one character, four classes, auto-combat that you can actually configure, and a 24-hour offline window that is supposed to match online speed. You like seeing loot tables on the enemy. You like a Magic Academy town, mercenaries on expeditions, a Tower ladder, a Spire with Tarot cards, and a faction world boss that pokes you every few days. You can live with AI-generated portraits because the combat math is the product.
Skip Vespera if you want a hand-painted ARPG, a live-service gacha, a shared campaign, or a fully private Melvor-style skill web where every skill stays useful forever. Some long-hour reviews say gathering, Spire, and Frontier stop mattering once the combat sheet is stacked. That is a real criticism of the loop, not a skill issue. 1.0 QoL does not magically invent synergy that a 400-hour critic did not feel.
What is good
Class identity is readable. Barbarian, Arcanist, Warden, and Nightblade do different things on auto. Mercenaries give you a combat slot and a bench without pretending to be other players. Academy Mastery and visible drop rates show respect for idle-RPG literacy. The in-game math page is the right kind of nerd bait. Price is low for the amount of HUD.
Offline work in 0.15.x plus 1.0 is the difference between “I will not recommend this” and “I can leave the PC.” Batch settlement, a Rewards button, bounded Spire, auto-mana in more modes, and Tower XP that does not lie are the adult features. Read combat and offline and Patch 1.0 before you judge a July save.
What is rough
AI art and AI-flavored names are disclosed on Steam and still bother people. Communication on Discord slowed according to late EA reviews after a very noisy first month. Loading times after deep Tower/Spire sessions were a saga; patches targeted them, 1.0 claims more QoL, your machine will have the last word. Warden needs extra auto-cast care. Faction Titans will annoy anyone who wanted a pure single-player island — they are not a shared instance, but they are a calendar.
Verdict
If the store trailer (the gameplay cinematic on the homepage) looks like your kind of dark idle RPG, buy it on a sale or at $7.99 and play one class for a week with the planner. Do not buy four copies. Do not expect a live-ops code economy. Do not expect a raid MMO. Expect a Steam idle RPG that wants you to socket gems, feed a mercenary, and climb. That is the product Idle Gamers shipped at 1.0.
For systems, stay on this wiki: tier list, dungeons, Tower, mercenaries, factions, gear. For arguments with the developer, go to Discord and Steam, not the comments under a fan page.
