Vespera Elements and Crystals

Deep character building in Vespera is not a second class. It is gems in gear plus six Element trees fed by crystals from enemies and bosses. The store copy is blunt: drop rates and known item sources are shown in-game. This page is the checklist so you stop vendoring the wrong color. Use it beside gear and gems and the class tier list.

Six trees, one character

You do not need all six trees on day one. You need to stop selling crystals. Match the first tree to the class you actually play:

• Barbarian — physical and bleed-adjacent crystals first.
• Arcanist — spell, burn, freeze. Pyromancer leans fire; Frostbinder leans cold windows; Voidcaller leans drain.
• Warden — dexterity, poison, trap.
• Nightblade — crit, poison, haste.

If a tooltip in the client disagrees with that sentence, the tooltip wins. Element names on the gem are the source of truth.

Crystals drop from packs, dungeon bosses, and Tower floors. Rough Gemstones started dropping from more normal dungeons in 0.11.3, so early keys are not a dead gem farm. Nightmare and Corruption still pay better once you can clear them without emptying potions.

Sockets versus Attunement

Gear takes sockets. Special Gem Attunement is once per character from one selected equipped gem. Extra copies and higher tiers do not multiply that bonus. Crown Imprints still upgrade the gem’s own stats. Players who socket five “attunement” copies are paying inventory tax. Pick one, imprint it if you can, and use the other sockets for raw stats.

Tower Gems are a set of eight special gems with unlock requirements and forge paths. The collection UI shows ownership across inventory, bank, and equipped slots. Eclipsed Emerald and Crown Emerald were renamed Eclipsed Sapphire and Crown Sapphire; old saves kept stats. If a Discord screenshot still says emerald, it is stale. Gem Crafting board

Crafting skills include Smithing, Lumbering, Leather, Jewelry, Alchemy, Cooking, then Gem Crafting, Gems, Reforge, Fusion, and Skill Engravings. Gem Crafting turns Vesper Dust and Vesper Shards into Unnamed Ink, Blank Gem Settings, and chipped gem consumables (ruby, diamond, amethyst, garnet, topaz, emerald). Wishlist recipes you are missing instead of staring at a red MISSING tag. That board is a real screenshot on this wiki, not a mockup.

Skill Engravings that name your actual skills now apply offline to damage, crit, cooldown, lifesteal, and bleed on supported routes after the 0.15.x combat pass. An engraving that only looks pretty is a vendor item. Farm the enemy the loot table lists.

What not to vendor

• Element crystals for your main tree
• Rough Gemstones until the socket is filled
• The Attunement gem you already picked
• Soulbound pieces you are still waking on the Tower
• Divine gear you have not salvaged on purpose (Aberration Shard, Aether, Honing Stones)

Vendor junk weapons, duplicate chipped gems after the recipe is done, and hides you already turned into Everhide. Food still matters more than a sixth tree. See gathering.

Session order

1. Collect Offline Rewards so crystals from the night actually land.
2. Socket the planned color.
3. Salvage extra Divine.
4. Vendor the rest.
5. Confirm Loop-Fight still has potions from the controls pass.
6. Park on a dungeon or Tower job from the planner.

Farm crystals on a dungeon you already clear, not on a Nightmare key that drinks the bag. Tower sapphires are a collection, not a second Attunement stack — read the Tower page before you reroll a Crown Sapphire you already own. If Loop-Fight is dying while you socket, stop crafting and fix potions on controls.

If a Steam comment says gathering and Frontier “do not matter,” that person already finished this checklist. You probably have not. Finish it, then argue on Discord listed under links.
