Tower and Spire

The Tower and the Spire are the two ladders that tell you whether a Vespera build is real. The Tower is a measured climb with bosses, echelons, gems, and Ascension Modules. The Spire is endless: every ten floors you take a Tarot card with an Upright bonus or a Reversed risk. Both run online and offline. Both were the center of Early Access loading complaints. Both received multiple reliability patches, then a 1.0 QoL pass on 4 September 2026. This page assumes you already set Loop-Fight on the combat and offline page and can farm a dungeon without panic.

Tower: XP, Reclamation, and honesty

Tower floors have a fixed XP budget. Replaying a floor you already reached does not get to inflate that budget because your Combat Level is huge. First-time clears from floors 1–100 give bounded catch-up XP for Combat Levels 140–153, landing at 154 at floor 100 for Awakening I. That catch-up never repeats. If you are below that band, the early Tower is a gift. If you are above it, you are here for gems, modules, and Soulbound drops.

Reclamation combines floors. It now settles the correct kill and completion XP, including eligible first-clear catch-up, without awarding the opening enemy twice. Combined waves use the strongest included enemy as a health baseline plus a controlled bump per extra floor. Reclamation Defense stays capped below the next Boss, Guardian, Eclipse, or other protected fight, and rewards remain available for every reclaimed floor. In plain language: reclaim a range you can actually tank, not a vanity block that includes a boss you cannot look at.

Each 100-floor Echelon locks one of the four Tower hazards for that Echelon. Read the Tower Codex. If a hazard counters your class — anti-heal versus lifesteal Nightblade, anti-trap versus Warden — swap flasks from the forge or change the mercenary.

Ascension Modules and Tower gems

Three Ascension Module slots unlock at Tower 30, 40, and 50. Each module is unique; you cannot stack the same one twice. Launch-era options from the 0.15.2 notes:

  • Crown Assault — +4% Damage.
  • Bastion Lattice — 4% less damage taken.
  • Quickstep Circuit — +8% Haste.

Selections save and apply in combat, including offline. Take Bastion if you die on reclaim. Take Crown if you already live. Take Quickstep if your rotation is gated by auto-cast cooldown rather than raw hit size.

Gem Crafting includes a Tower Gems collection of eight special gems, with unlock requirements, forge paths, and ownership across inventory, bank, and equipped gear. Eclipsed Emerald and Crown Emerald were renamed Eclipsed Sapphire and Crown Sapphire with corrected art; old saves keep stats. Gem Attunement is not a stacking circus: one selected equipped gem grants its Attunement bonus once. Extra copies and higher tiers do not multiply that bonus. Crown Imprints improve the gem’s own stats separately. Socket the rest of your gear using the gear and gems checklist.

Soulbound gear and Soulwake

Tower is the named source of Soulbound gear. Soulwake strengthens that gear while it is equipped. Unequipping to stash a pretty sword pauses the growth. Keep the piece on through idle sessions. Divine leftovers can be salvaged for Aberration Shards, Aether, and Honing Stones — useful, but not if you salvage the Soulbound slot you are waking.

Spire: Tarot, pause, and safety rails

Every ten Spire floors you choose a Tarot card. Upright is the bonus you want. Reversed is the dangerous rider. Deep runs compact old resolved Tarot history while keeping every accumulated modifier, so the client does not die under a thousand card logs. Long offline Spire sessions batch rewards and floors while preserving Aether, Soulwake, Divine drops, pity, Flux, Tarot choices, and floor records.

Rules that save rage:

  • A paused Spire does not block Veiled Reliquary, and Reliquary does not overwrite the pause.
  • Paused or stopped Spire automation should not restart because Tower combat or global auto-combat flickered.
  • Auto-advance continues only when an auto-cycle is actually running.
  • Extreme offline Spire sessions are bounded so you do not skip an unintended pile of floors or Combat Levels.
  • Starting Spire while another offline calculation is finishing should not let the previous activity steal the character back.

If auto-advance looks enabled but nothing moves, it may be internally paused from an older save. Stop the run, confirm payment if the attempt is a paid entry, then start a clean cycle. Equipment stays sealed during automatic handoffs and unlocks when you stop, which is why the panel used to jump between floors.

Which ladder tonight?

  • Tower when you need modules, sapphires, Soulbound, or Awakening XP.
  • Spire when you want endless scaling and can afford the Tarot gamble.
  • Dungeons when crystals and engravings are the bottleneck.
  • Frontier when region mastery and seals are the goal — later, not on day one.

Class identity still matters. Barbarian likes reclaim packs that bleed. Arcanist needs mana potions for long floor chains. Warden wants Farwatch Lens uptime on precision floors. Nightblade wants bosses that live long enough to stack poison.

Bring a mercenary from the mercenaries roster that covers the hole, donate leftover food toward the next world boss if a call is soon, and read Patch 1.0 if load times after a deep climb still look like August. Official notes live on Steam and the links page.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers players search after the Vespera 1.0 launch.

What is Reclamation in the Vespera Tower?

A combined-floor run that pays each included floor's XP and rewards with a tougher packed wave. Stay below the next protected boss.

Do Tarot cards persist if I go offline?

Yes. Offline Spire keeps Tarot modifiers, Aether, Soulwake, Divine pity, and Flux. You still have to resolve a pending choice.

When do Ascension Modules unlock?

Slots open at Tower 30, 40, and 50. Each module can be equipped only once.
